The Senate Subcommittee on Africa is holding a hearing on northern Uganda tomorrow morning and many of its members aren’t planning on attending.
Apparently our politicians don’t think that this issue deserves their attention, but we can help change that!
By making a quick call to one of the following office’s and requesting that the Senator attends the hearing tomorrow, you can increase the pressure on our leaders to show up and ensure that the U.S. is doing all that it can for peace in Uganda!
Here’s a suggestion of what you can say:
“Hello. My name is _______ and I’m from _________. I’m calling to ask that Senator ________ attend tomorrow’s Subcommittee hearing on the Great Lakes region of Africa and that he ensures that the U.S. is doing all that it can for peace in northern Uganda. This issue is very important to me and I hope the Senator will be there tomorrow. Thank you.”
Here is a list of the Committee members and their phone numbers:
Bill Nelson Florida – (202) 224-5274
Barack Obama Illinois – (202) 224-2854
Ben Cardin Maryland – (202) 224-4524
Jim Webb Virginia – (202) 224-4024
Joe Biden, Delaware- (202) 224-5042
John E. Sununu, New Hampshire – (202) 224-2841
Norm Coleman Minnesota – (202) 224-5641
David Vitter Louisiana – (202) 224-4623
Chuck Hagel Nebraska – (202) 224-4224
Dick Lugar, Indiana – (202) 224-4814
Making this call will only take a few seconds, but it could make a big difference in how the U.S. engages the crisis in northern Uganda.
